What if you really do have extraordinary power in that "clay jar" of a congregation of yours? What if you learned how to tap into the infinite and replenishable energy that dwells within God’s people and set them free to put their creativity, intelligence, and passion to work doing what really matters?

A Renewal Enterprise (A.R.E.) works with judicatory, congregational and organizational leaders across North America facilitating processes that teach people to be who they are and see what they have so that they can do what matters in a life-giving way, for the sake of God's mission to bless and reconcile the world. The A.R.E. team has experienced first-hand the hard work of ministry in a changing culture; we see too many leaders having the life sucked out of them as they do their work!

The workshop will introduce leaders of faith based groups to a radical new way of engaging people of faith and the organizations they are part of. Grounded in a renewable way of thinking, the A.R.E. team is committed to ways of working that are connected to what God is up to in the world and harnessing the energy present in the assets, gifts and passions of people – both in the church and in the world. Rather than presenting models of someone else for you to aspire to, A.R.E. will present a process to help people of faith be who they are and see what they have in ways that allow them to do what matters and get started right now.

The day will consist of four key segments:

  1. An introduction to a renewable framework grounded in a God who is active and energetically committed to the world God made and loves and who calls us to participate in that work.
  2. A renewable way of being that shares seven key practices to help people release who they are as individuals and as a group.
  3. A renewable way of seeing called PAWN Analysis that uses three lenses to help you to see reality from the lens of God’s purpose; the lens of your context and the assets, needs and exciting things that God is up to out there; and the lens of your faith community and the assets, needs and exciting things God is up to among you.
  4. A renewable way of doing that insures that you not only see what actions are possible but also implement them (since many good ideas in the church never actually happen!).

The process will be shared in a way that allows your organization to begin to live in a renewable way – as significant a step forward in faith-based organizational development as hybrid cars have been for the automotive industry. And in keeping with A.R.E.’s commitment to “working playfully” it will not only be informative, it will also be fun!

The workshop will take place from 9 AM to 3:30 PM. Lunch will be included. Participants will receive a copy of the workbook: The Renewable Organization for Faith Based Groups.
